A Letter to Mary Poppins

Spoonful of Medicine

Dear Ms Poppins.

A spoonful of sugar may help the medicine go down but have you given any thought to the consequences on the teeth? Did you know that many medications, even adult ones, are already loaded with sugar and can increase the risk of tooth decay e.g. Antacids, calcium tablets, throat syrups. This is particularly important if the medicines in question  are to be taken for long periods, multiple times throughout the day or especially if taken just before bed. Ask for sugar free versions and talk to your dentist.
